Featured Grant Story: YMCA Plainview

Building on a long national and international tradition, Plainview began offering YMCA programs in 1928 and the Plainview YMCA was officially certified in 1948. Their mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

YMCA Plainview is working to address the need for much needed adult and youth program space at the Brownfield YMCA location. The best way to address this need is to build a new multi-use room for potential classes and programs to be offered there. Such classes and programs would include step aerobics, spin classes, personal training, kickboxing, youth cheerleading, and various other classes. Perhaps the most impactful program will be the youth dance program.

Recently the local dance studio in Brownfield closed. Many families cannot afford to travel to Lubbock for dance classes. YMCA Plainview will provide dance classes with the addition of the room, estimated to serve over 1,000 community members through the various programs to be held in the space.
