Community Foundation of West Texas Awards over $20 Million!

The Community Foundation of West Texas is pleased to announce that they have reached a milestone! Since the Foundation began in 1981, they have awarded over $20 million in grant dollars to hundreds of nonprofits!

We are a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people of Lubbock and the surrounding 14 counties of the South Plains. We serve as a leader, catalyst, and resource for philanthropy by providing donors with flexible means of making charitable gifts to enhance our communities. The Community Foundation of West Texas currently administers over two hundred and eighty (280) endowment funds with assets exceeding $42 million.

The Community Foundation of West Texas exists to help people who care about the Lubbock and the South Plains area to invest - at any level - in its future. The Foundation allows a donor to be as creative as they so choose. Donors can set up a scholarship fund, add to the community funds, begin a fund for a specific nonprofit(s), or choose who they want to support each year.

“Our service, improving our region through grants and scholarships is exciting: people helping people through their endowment funds designed to last forever is a tribute to West Texans. There is no finer contribution in life than helping others.”

- Stephen Warren, CFWT President.

We are a local organization with deep roots in the community, and we build endowment funds that will benefit the community forever. The Foundation helps donors customize their giving and provide them with the knowledge they need to make philanthropic decisions. Consider the Foundation as a grantmaking expert!

Hundreds of grants and scholarships are awarded each year to address community needs in the areas of education, social services, health and human services, arts and culture, and civic and community. There are four community grant cycles a year, as well as a grant cycle for animal organizations, arts organizations, historic preservation organizations, and even Mini Grants for Teachers.

The process to apply for grants is very straightforward and the applications can be found online at www.cfwtx.org under the grants tab.
